50+ Countries You Can Visit Visa-Free on a Turkish Passport
As of 2026, the Turkish passport allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry to more than 110 countries. This list changes every year; some countries add visa exemptions while others remove them. It's essential to confirm the current situation before planning travel โ this guide summarises the situation known as of 2026.
Europe: Schengen and Non-Schengen
The Schengen area (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and 23 more countries) requires a visa for Turkish citizens. However, many European countries outside Schengen can be entered visa-free: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, Georgia, Ukraine (e-visa), Belarus (Minsk airport transit). The UK requires a separate visa.
Facilitated visa: application is mandatory for Schengen countries, but many consulates give an appointment and result within 1โ5 business days. Multiple-entry Schengen visas have in recent years been granted more easily to those with a good travel history.
Asia: Visa-Free and Visa on Arrival
Visa-free: Japan (90 days), South Korea (90 days), Singapore (90 days), Malaysia (90 days), Thailand (30 days visa-free + a border-extension option), Hong Kong (90 days), Indonesia (30 days visa-free), the Philippines (30 days), Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan.
Visa on arrival or e-visa: the Maldives (free on arrival), Sri Lanka (e-visa), India (e-visa), Vietnam (e-visa, 90 days), Cambodia (visa on arrival), Laos (visa on arrival). China requires a visa in advance; visa-free entry to Japan, South Korea and Singapore is among the strongest advantages of the Turkish passport.
The Americas, Africa and the Middle East
The Americas: the US requires an ESTA (electronic travel authorisation) or a visa. Canada requires a visa. However, Mexico (180 days visa-free), Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Panama, Costa Rica and many Caribbean countries open their doors visa-free to Turkish citizens.
Africa: Morocco (visa-free), Tunisia (visa-free), Kenya (e-visa), Tanzania (e-visa), Ethiopia (e-visa), Rwanda (visa on arrival), Senegal, the Gambia visa-free. The Middle East: the UAE (Dubai) visa-free, Qatar (e-visa), Jordan (visa on arrival), Oman (e-visa). Israel is technically possible but effectively suspended due to diplomatic relations.
Note: The List Changes Every Year
Visa exemptions can change depending on political and diplomatic relations. There have been periods when some Schengen countries granted visa-free passage; once the European Travel Information System (ETIAS) is in force, entering Schengen will become a little more procedural.
For accurate information before travel: Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular information system (konsolosluk.mfa.gov.tr), the target country's embassy site, or the IATA Travel Centre. Make sure your passport's validity meets the minimum conditions, which vary by country โ most require 6 months' validity from the date of entry.
